Summary

With nods to Bridget Jones and Pride and Prejudice, a charming #ownvoices queer rom-com debut about a free-spirited social media astrologer who agrees to fake a relationship with an uptight actuary until New Year’s Eve—with results not even the stars could predict!

After a disastrous blind date, Darcy Lowell is desperate to stop her well-meaning brother from playing matchmaker ever again。 Love—and the inevitable heartbreak—is the last thing she wants。 So she fibs and says her latest set up was a success。 Darcy doesn’t expect her lie to bite her in the ass。

Elle Jones, one of the astrologers behind the popular Twitter account, Oh My Stars, dreams of finding her soul mate。 But she knows it is most assuredly not Darcy。。。 a no-nonsense stick-in-the-mud, who is way too analytical, punctual, and skeptical for someone as free-spirited as Elle。 When Darcy’s brother—and Elle's new business partner—expresses how happy he is that they hit it off, Elle is baffled。 Was Darcy on the same date? Because。。。 awkward。

When Darcy begs Elle to play along, she agrees to pretend they’re dating to save face。 But with a few conditions: Darcy must help Elle navigate her own overbearing family over the holidays and their arrangement expires on New Year’s Eve。 The last thing they expect is to develop real feelings during a fake relationship。

But maybe opposites can attract when true love is written in the stars?

I really enjoyed this one。 Queer rom-com with fake dating, and a quirky/serious pairing。

After a disastrous first date, Elle and Darcy don't plan to see one another again until a wacky set of arbitrary circumstances makes them decide as grown adults it would be advantageous to fake a relationship。What can I say? This book is ridiculous and delightful and I loved it。 There can never be enough of this type of book, and I really REALLY hope this means mainstream publishers will continue to publish and promote new adult ff romances。 The audiobook narrator had a charming, engaging voice After a disastrous first date, Elle and Darcy don't plan to see one another again until a wacky set of arbitrary circumstances makes them decide as grown adults it would be advantageous to fake a relationship。What can I say? This was a bit of a let down for me unfortunately。 It's a cute sapphic romcom but it fell kind of flat -- I never really got that invested in it。 Some repetitive phrasing, and I felt like I was being told the two leads had a connection a lot more than actually seeing/feeling it develop。 Would still recommend though if you're looking for a quick, fun romance。 This was a bit of a let down for me unfortunately。 It's a cute sapphic romcom but it fell kind of flat -- I never really got that invested in it。 Some repetitive phrasing, and I felt like I was being told the two leads had a connection a lot more than actually seeing/feeling it develop。 Would still recommend though if you're looking for a quick, fun romance。 。。。more

I think that I would actually give this book a 3。5 stars except that's not really an option lol。 I really liked this book, it wasn't the best romcom I've ever read but it was decent。 It is very millennial, and has a lot of millennial pop culture references, which I felt were a little old but they weren't the worst I've ever read。 I definitely personally enjoy a bit more angst in a book, and there wasn't a lot of that。 There were a few things I felt went a little unresolved, but overall pretty go I think that I would actually give this book a 3。5 stars except that's not really an option lol。 I really liked this book, it wasn't the best romcom I've ever read but it was decent。 It is very millennial, and has a lot of millennial pop culture references, which I felt were a little old but they weren't the worst I've ever read。 I definitely personally enjoy a bit more angst in a book, and there wasn't a lot of that。 There were a few things I felt went a little unresolved, but overall pretty good。 I did really enjoy the ending and I really felt something when I read it。 。。。more

A fake dating sapphic romance? Yes。 The wild card, colourful, do-what-makes-you happy type of person and the dependable overachiever, who needs therapy for her mummy and daddy issues?

I absolutely adored this book!! It was sweet and romantic and really fun too。 I loved Elle and Darcy as characters and together they were amazing。 Fantastic chemistry and fantastic writing style。 The side characters were great too! I listened the audiobook with anyplay and I loved how the narrator voiced the characters。 I had the best time listening this book and I can’t wait to read the next one about Brandon。

I'd give this a 3。5 if I could。 It was enjoyable to read and I love a good queer romcom with no suffering due to a character's sexuality and a happy ending。 And the astrology bits / opposites attract / fake dating tropes were lovely。 For some reason I just had a hard time getting into it and really falling in love with the romance and tropes。 Brendon was too pushy tbh, and for some reason I just felt a bit distant from the romance/plot rather than being fully invested and enraptured by it like I I'd give this a 3。5 if I could。 It was enjoyable to read and I love a good queer romcom with no suffering due to a character's sexuality and a happy ending。 And the astrology bits / opposites attract / fake dating tropes were lovely。 For some reason I just had a hard time getting into it and really falling in love with the romance and tropes。 Brendon was too pushy tbh, and for some reason I just felt a bit distant from the romance/plot rather than being fully invested and enraptured by it like I've been for books before。 I loved Margot / Elle's friendship, though <3 。。。more

I am really, really bummed to give WITS three stars。 I loved this book so much (and that's really saying a lot, romance isn't my genre), and it was a solid four stars, but the ending 😭😭😭 It's one of those that makes you nervous as you're getting close to finishing, because you see the pages dwindling and know there is just NO WAY there is enough book left to wrap everything up。 And while I guess there were no loose ends, I just didn't get the conclusion and resolution I needed。Full video review I am really, really bummed to give WITS three stars。 I loved this book so much (and that's really saying a lot, romance isn't my genre), and it was a solid four stars, but the ending 😭😭😭 It's one of those that makes you nervous as you're getting close to finishing, because you see the pages dwindling and know there is just NO WAY there is enough book left to wrap everything up。 And while I guess there were no loose ends, I just didn't get the conclusion and resolution I needed。Full video review to come: https://youtube。com/channel/UCdcrRHDe。。。 。。。more

DNF @ 40%: This one kept putting me to sleep, plus I didn’t care for the characters。 No humor, no zing, no nothing。 Just bleh。 So disappointed because it sounded like it would be so good。 And the audio narrator was just meh。 Not much distinction between her voices。 Clearly I’m in the minority though, given the high overall rating。

Amanda Hensel

I really really loved this one! Elle is a wonderful character。 The writing is hilarious。 The ending was perfect!

4。5 stars— This book was a joy to read。 This was the first adult wlw romance I’ve read and it did not disappoint。 Sapphic fake dating? I already loved it from the start。 But both Elle and Darcy (Elizabeth and Darcy, but make it sapphic? Yes please) are such easy characters to connect with and emphasize with。 Not to mention, the smutty parts are wonderful。

This was。。。fine。 It just wasn't what it purported to be。 It purports to be a Pride and Prejudice retelling, but aside from the same names and the grumpy/sunshine dynamic, I truly did not get that (and even the names weren't consistent--she didn't even name Darcy's little brother George for God's sake! It was RIGHT。 THERE)。 It purports to be centered on astrology and fate but didn't really delve into that? I’m not rating this because I think it was a good book that just was not for me。 Going into it I knew it was a rom-com, but it just got too cheesy for me that it made it unenjoyable to read。 However, I did like the romance, and believe this book is good for the right audience。

hello yes, goodreads? I need you to make an option for 100 stars bc that is what I would like to rate this book, five stars is simply not enoughalso there was a stevie nicks mention like 14 pages in, so did I really expect to give it anything less than five stars

Queer fluff! Easy, fun read with likable characters。 Repetitive phrases were a bit annoying, and the sap was a bit over the top, even for a romance。

Disclaimer: OPGELET!
